3636 North Ridge Road - Wichita · Construction Management with GLMV Architecture
St. Catherine of Siena Parish is a new Catholic parish in Wichita, Kansas. Simpson Construction Services was hired as construction manager to build a one story, 28,000-square-foot facility. The facility includes a sanctuary, commons area, four classrooms, a gymnasium, serving kitchen and office.
Strategically allocating dollars allowed the team to incorporate upgraded materials throughout the build to enhance the spiritual ambiance. The interior of the sanctuary is constructed with split faced and burnished block. The building features a complex porte cochѐre that utilizes radius stucco soffit features, stone columns and cast stone column caps. The north canopy, comprised of 15 fiberglass columns and radius archways, ties the gym area to the classroom wing and adds a covered walkway between the two.
The sanctuary interior features large cast stone elements and arches to accentuate statues around the altar area. A significant amount of birch trim was used in the project for high beam wraps, windows, soffit areas and important devotional areas throughout the sanctuary. Wood pews seat 787 parishioners and a stained glass rose window provides for beauty and light. Many of the sound system speakers were integrated into the pendant light structures to provide a balanced sound throughout the church.
Methodical process and thorough, continuous conversation ultimately benefited the owner and the entire partnership, and produced a new building delivered early and under budget.
