COMMUNITY | CHINESE GARDEN OF FRIENDSHIP

Wichita, KS
A collaboration with Botanica, this Scholar-type Chinese Garden, features traditional Chinese architecture, art, and culture to inspire the community.
The design creates a series of unique spaces found in the traditional Scholar-type Chinese garden and detailed architecture with elegant Song Dynasty style. Prominent parts of the Chinese Garden include two foo dogs guarding the entrance, a replicate Qingming scroll hearkening to the ancient river festival of Wichita's Sister City, Kaifeng, and a 97-foot Treasure Dragon.
The Garden encompasses a little more than 0.3 acres and complies with all ADA (handicapped accessibility) rules. Inspired by Chinese Culture, the Garden was built using local materials, craftsmen, and artisans.
