Mulvane superintendent Dr. Brad Rahe was looking for more than a contractor when his School Board chose Simpson Construction Services as Construction Manager for its bond project. Voters approved the bond in May 2012 and Simpson immediately began renovations on the sports complex.

Renovations to Lyle Couch Stadium were phased so that a new turf field, asphalt track, bleachers, lighting, and ticket booth were completed in time for the 2013 football season. Sod from the existing field was used for lawn improvements at several of the other school sites or sold to raise money for football uniforms. Bleachers were moved to the baseball stadium.

Phase II construction consisted of new home bleachers and a multipurpose room that is used for visiting teams and wrestling. New concession stands, upgraded streets, and parking lots help create a positive patron experience when attending sporting events.

The outside of Munson Primary School received an entryway facelift. A storm shelter addition to the school also provided two new classrooms and gave the district the opportunity to remove the portable classrooms that cluttered the landscape.

At the Mulvane Grade School, a new gymnasium with a walking path is open for use by the Mulvane Recreation Commission. Two dance rooms double as a storm shelter and additional rooms house art and music classes.

Work was done for ancillary buildings as well. SCS built a new transportation and maintenance facility for the district to house and maintain the school bus fleet.
