LOCATION: WICHITA, KS

Newman University’s new student housing complex consists of two three-story wood-framed buildings totaling 67,000-square-feet with a total of 229 beds.

With just 11 months to design and build new apartments and dorms, the schedule was extremely accelerated. Simpson Construction was charged with hiring an architect and engineers and worked closely with them to design a unique floor plan for both buildings that provided study areas, social gathering areas, and living areas to create vitality on campus.

The economical design of the site allowed for two different types of living units (one apartment-style and the other a traditional dormitory layout) while providing the maximum number of sleeping units possible.
